Campaign for Healthy Families Extends to Hub City

I am so proud and inspired to be working for the Campaign for Healthy Families.  I walk into our main room of the headquarters and am amazed at the work being done by our great organizers and volunteers.  I love to listen to them talk to voters - each in their own way - and educate them on the dangers of Initiated Measure 11.  It's so motivating to hear the conversations that arise on those phone calls; the agreement that this is not the Government's job to intrude in these highly complex and personal decisions.  Everyday, it reminds me of why I do what I do... of why we all do what we're doing.

We continue to gain momentum.  It's so very thrilling and exciting.  Recently that momentum took us to Aberdeen where we opened our Campaign office in our third city.  Supporters gathered at the new office on Thursday evening.  And, the Campaign also spread our message at the Brown County Fair a few weeks earlier.

Regional Field Director Leslie Stusiak reflects:

As we've begun our efforts in Aberdeen we have received an incredible amount of support from voters in the area. While tabling at the Brown County Fair we had many conversations with people who are angry that the ban is back on the ballot in November. The support we received at the fair was overwhelming and from all over the Northeastern part of the state. People are ready to fight the ban again and seem more eager than ever to help out in our efforts. We were welcomed back to Aberdeen with open arms and greeted with an energy and willingness that could never be replaced. Our supporters in the area will help us to make sure that this ban is defeated once again.

People are starting to realize that this is a sweeping ban on abortion; that the so-called "exceptions" aren't exceptions at all.  I am confident in what the future holds for the women and families of this state.  I can't wait to see what kind of conversations tomorrow holds.

Having an abortion is never an easy decision for a woman.  It is a very personal, heartfelt choice that no one else can, or has the right to make.
