In 2006, the South Dakota Campaign for Healthy Families successfully defeated an abortion ban signed into law by Governor Mike Rounds. In 2008, anti-abortion activists returned with that they described as a more moderate abortion ban in the form of a ballot initiative. With the help of our courageous volunteers and generous donors across the state, we defeated the second attempt to ban abortion by a sweeping margin.
The South Dakota Campaign for Healthy Families is committed to remaining organized to improve access to necessary medical care for women and families and defend against future attempts to ban abortion. The organization will maintain a presence during South Dakota’s legislative session to promote programs that reduce unintended pregnancy and to resist efforts to restrict access to abortion care in South Dakota.

About Us
SD Campaign for Healthy Families, Inc. is a newly formed non-profit corporation in South Dakota that seeks to improve the social welfare of our state by fostering and preserving a social and political climate favorable to the exercise of reproductive choice, while encouraging and protecting informed individual choice regarding reproductive health care. The corporation is an offshoot of a similarly named coalition formed to defeat abortion ban ballot measures in 2006 and 2008.
Because of our aggressive advocacy and grassroots lobbying on behalf of reproductive choice, contributions to SD Campaign for Healthy Families do not qualify as a charitable deduction for federal income tax purposes.
