Neighbors Seizing Opportunity to Meet Staff, Ask Questions

Rapid City, SD – The South Dakota Campaign for Healthy Families is opening their Rapid City office to the community tomorrow.  The Open House will be an opportunity for voters to re-connect with veterans of the successful 2006 campaign, and meet new members of the team working to defeat activists’ second struggle to ban abortion in two years.

“South Dakota’s families don’t need big Government telling them what they can and can’t do,” stated Republican and former State Representative Jan Nicolay, Co-Chair of the Campaign for Healthy Families.  “Families know their own circumstances best, but this ban would strip families of a private, moral decision.  And a woman would be forced to carry a pregnancy to term even in the fetus couldn’t survive on its own after delivery..”

With the ban back on November’s ballot, volunteers working to defeat it again are mobilizing early.  A statewide canvassing effort began two weeks ago, with neighbors going door-to-door to educate each other about the ban’s return to the ballot.  Tomorrow’s Open House at the campaign’s new Rapid City office is a chance for the community to learn more about the ban’s return, and join the grassroots effort to beat the ban again.

Having an abortion is never an easy decision for a woman.  It is a very personal, heartfelt choice that no one else can, or has the right to make.
