Host a House Party to Defeat Initiated Measure 11

As we head towards November, it will be absolutely critical that as many of our energetic supporters as possible stay informed about the Campaign. There is no better and fun way to do this by hosting a house party with your friends, family, and neighbors. By hosting a house party, you are playing a vital role in keeping everyone in the loop, energizing supporters, answering important questions, signing up volunteers, and raising money.

If you are interested in hosting a house party please contact the Campaign office at 605-977-2008. A staff member will walk you through all the necessary steps to host a successful party and will send you a House Party “Tool Kit.”


Initiated Measure 11 House Party Tool Kit



Initiated Measure 11 House Parties give attendees the opportunity to:


  • Get comfortable discussing IM 11 in a non-threatening venue.

  • Become educated about the facts surrounding IM 11.

  • Learn about and commit to participating in exciting activities including phone banking, canvassing, visibility events in the local community around IM 11.

  • Contribute directly to the South Dakota Campaign for Healthy Families.

TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL HOUSE PARTY



  • Invite friends, family, and neighbors at least 7-10 days before the party date.  Email or online invitations sites like E-vite work well.

  • Make it a casual, comfortable setting.

  • For increased turnout, give your invitees a reminder call 2-3 days before the party.

  • Let the SDCHF know that you are planning a House Party.  We can help with turnout, talking points, and any questions you may have.  You can reach the Campaign at 605-977-2008.

Encourage everyone who attends the party to complete a Pledge Card and leave it with you.  If any of your attendees are so inclined, encourage them to take some blank pledge cards with them to get their friends and neighbors to sign up as well.  If you end up with more people who request pledge cards than are included in your packet – have them contact Headquarters and we will mail them a packet ASAP.

To be successful, we must ensure that all of our supporters vote “NO” on Initiated Measure in November.  If anyone who attends your party is not yet registered to vote, make sure they complete a Vote Registration Card before they leave.

WHEN YOUR HOUSE PARTY IS DONE…

Send the completed sign-in sheets, pledge cards, voter registration cards and any unused materials to the Sioux Falls office (1003 W. 11th Street, Sioux Falls, SD 57104).
